Gus ... J.G. Adams IV, known to family and friends as Gus, has been playing music since childhood.  Finally settling in on the bass, Gus studied jazz at UNC- Asheville, and is currently working to obtain his Bachelor of Arts in Music.  Honing his skills in countless past musical enterprises, you can currently hear his funknastic jams with Howies House Party, The Jaimee Thomas Band, Snake and Destroy, the Monsters of Japan, and Hard Luck Story

Craig was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and at a young age moved to Western North Carolina, where he completed his education. "Woody" is a self-taught harmonica artist and bassist, who has been performing for over 25 years. He helped form the local band "Clear Creek", which had performed extensively in the Western North Carolina area.

Harlan Johnson was born in New York City but relocated to Western North Carolina as a child when his parents moved here.  There are pictures of Harlan as young as 2 sitting behind a drum set. It appeared to his parents that Harlan was born to play the drums. Harlan is primarily a self taught musician, although he did study along the way with various instructors.  Harlan started playing professionally at age 15 beside his father Howie, who formed  Howies House Party.  One night while playing out as the house band at Robinson's BBQ and Blues, Harlan and Howie both met Craig Woody, and all 3 clicked.  Once again, all 3 are playing together as members of Hard Luck Story. Harlan is also a member of Monsters Of Japan.

"Special Guest" Howie Johnson is originally from New York City. He developed his sound and skills playing clubs, sessions, and shows in and around the New York area.  In 1986 he moved to Western North Carolina and became a regular on the Asheville music scene, performing with his son Harlan, who played drums in the band Howies House Party and Blues Revue. Howie spent the last 2 years on the gulf coast of Florida playing and recording with Johnny Barbato and the Lucky Dogs, who were featured at the world famous "Flora-Bama".  Upon returning to western North Carolina in 2008, Howie has been recording and working on several CD projects of his own, as well as with Smokey Joe Peoples. He has been playing area clubs, doing solo dates, and performing with several bands including the Hipshakers, Social Funk-tion, The Howie Lee Band, Smokey Joe Show, Keturah Leigh, and most recently, Hard Luck Story.
